Original iteration

by Chris F

This is the original iteration of the game. It’s my take on a mapping party, its purpose being to familiarize the player with the concepts behind exploring a place, OpenStreetMap and mapping parties.

The game is for 2-4 players. All the players start in hexagons(hexes) adjacent to the starting square (green on the map). The purpose of the game is to be the first player with 3 Point of Interest (PoI) cards correctly filled in.

Each player can move up to 5 hexagons during his turn in any direction. A move is legal only if the hexagon contains at least part of a street, pedestrianized area or path (green dashes). A player’s movement finishes either when he has travelled 5 hexagons, when he lands on a Point of Information or Treasure Chest hexagon or when he finishes trading a card.

When a player lands on a Point of Information hex, he collects the PoI card of that point. Each PoI card contains 3 questions(facts) that the player will need to match by picking up information from Treasure Chests or trading them with other players.

When a player lands on a Treasure Chest, he picks up an Information card with information on it. Once a Treasure Chest has been opened, it is removed from the map. A player can hold only 3 non-locked Information cards in his hand. A player can “lock” an Information card to a PoI card by placing it on top of that PoI card.

Once the player believes he has all the information for his 3 PoI cards accurate, he can declare that he has finished and count the number of correct facts about his PoIs by comparing his answers with the Master Cards provided. A player has as many points as correct facts he has in the end.

This is a preliminary list of the PoIs and their tags:
